CARBON-14

(IN POST-PRODUCTION)
dir. Anna Konovalova

Since the nuclear tests of the 1950s and ’60s, every person on the planet has carried traces of the radioactive carbon-14 released by the blasts. It is
one of the many marks left by war that cannot be seen from satellites. War is not merely armed conflict but a constellation of actions, symbols, and
phenomena whose impact extends across time and space. In the documentary essay Carbon-14, the filmmaker takes an associative journey through memory to reflect on forms of violence and on how military processes have shaped her own life and the lives of those close to her.
